About Us

The Peters family of Peters Produce fruit and vegetable farm in Aylmer, Ontario.

Peters Produce was started as a family business in the spring of 2020. We are a multilingual family comprised of Annie, Justin, Stephanie, Derrick, and the late father and mentor John. Farming has been a major part of our ancestral heritage dating centuries ago to Europe and Russia.

Annie at Peters Produce

Annie

Annie brings a lot of character and perseverance to the family business. She is not one to easily give up or hold off; rather she relentlessly works from dawn to dusk. Annie oversees harvesting but also dabbles in many other things like our laying hens and growing our broiler chickens. She can often be found at the on-farm market, bringing fresh produce from the field, or even attending some of our other local farmers markets as well. In her free time, Annie enjoys being a mother, and finds joy in gardening.

Justin at Peters Produce

Justin

Justin is the farmer of the business. He primarily oversees crop production. He also plays more of an oversight role from accounting to general management. Justin has always enjoyed farming and gardening, starting from a young age of operating equipment and growing his own crops. Justin obtained his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science at the University of Guelph in 2020, and prior to completed a diploma in Agriculture at the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus. Justin enjoys spending his free time gardening and hanging out with friends and family.

Stephanie at Peters Produce

Stephanie

Stephanie could be considered the “face” of the business. She oversees preparation and attendance of the farmers markets. She is the one your most likely going to meet first. Stephanie’s bold and vibrant character brings lots of joy to the family business and the people she meets. Throughout the off-season, she spends her hours studying business at Conestoga College in hopes that one day she can apply it to the family business. Steph loves to spend her extra time having fun with friends.

Derrick at Peters Produce

Derrick

Derrick is the quiet and shy one behind the scenes helping where needed. He is the handyman of the family, doing most of the repair and shop work as needed. He also helps on the farm with planting and operating as needed. We like to consider Derrick the Jack-of-all Trades type of guy as there is not too much he cannot figure out or do. During the offseason, Derrick will be spending his time at Conestoga College studying general machining. During his free time, he loves doing carpentry work. Some of his work is displayed in our farm market like the tables and even the original stands we started with.

Milestones

We are just getting started, but we are looking forward to many more milestones ahead!

  1. We are excited to be able to add a pick your own pumpkin patch.

  2. A greenhouse was setup and we started growing plants for retail. We opened an indoor and on farm market.

  3. Started with just over an acre of land and a 4ft x 8ft produce stand.
